Hey everyone, it’s Sho!
Today, I want to share my experience with CrossFit training and how it’s changed my body. I’ve noticed three major changes:
- I lost 10 kg.
- I gained muscle mass.
- My posture improved.
Let’s dive into the first point. Before I started CrossFit, I weighed around 98 kg. I loved eating, especially sweets, which I had almost every day, so gaining weight was inevitable. At that time, I was only doing bodybuilding-style training and completely avoided cardio. Even running at 13 km/h on the treadmill left me breathless, and I was far from the shape I wanted to be in. But after starting CrossFit, I incorporated a lot more cardio and increased my overall activity level. As a result, I lost 10 kg in six months, despite still enjoying sweets.
Moving on to the second point, I noticed a significant increase in muscle mass. CrossFit includes bodybuilding-style exercises, but also a lot of HIIT-style workouts. The increase in volume and the variety of exercises, like lifting heavier weights with more reps, contributed to this muscle growth. I felt like my body was growing faster compared to when I was doing traditional bodybuilding training, which typically involved 8-12 reps. The variety of rep ranges in CrossFit, from low to high, provided a great stimulus for muscle growth.
As for the third point, I used to love pressing exercises like bench presses and focused heavily on them. However, this led to a posture where my shoulders were pulled forward, causing my back to round. This poor posture resulted in several issues, including shoulder stiffness and pain during training, which wasn’t good for either my health or appearance. After starting CrossFit, I significantly increased the amount of training for my back and core. I often did pull-ups, though even just hanging from the bar was challenging at first. As my grip strength and back muscles started to develop, my posture gradually improved, and the forward rounding of my shoulders lessened.
